In Palpa, the fire that broke out in government and community forest areas in the last few days has destroyed 711 hectares of forest. According to Division Forest Office Palpa, 36 community and government forests have caught fire so far.
For the past few days, there has been a fire in the forest every day. In the forest fire training with field demo on Monday, Narayandev Bhattarai, head of Division Forest Palpa, informed that one person died and 16 houses and sheds were burnt while extinguishing the forest fire.
He said that there is a problem of controlling the fire in the community forest, but if the fire is not completely extinguished, the wind will rekindle it. "There is a lot of trouble in controlling the forest fires," he said, "the strong winds and dry weather have caused more problems." He said that there were many fires in Tinau, Ribdikot, Bagnaskali, Tansen and Rainadevi Chahara of the district. Security agencies, forest staff, local residents have gathered for control. But he said that the first task is to protect the settlement.
Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the State Director Principles, Policies and Responsibilities, Thakur Gayre said that due to personal negligence, forest fires are occurring in some places in Palpa . He emphasized that anyone who commits a heinous crime like arson should be brought to justice. He said that a pond should be built in the upper part of the forest, and fires should be controlled by making an integrated plan.
Lumbini State Assembly Member Bir Bahadur Rana said that rather than the fire itself, we should find out how the fire started and control it. He said that people should be aware of this as it was found that the electric wires had been put on by people and had been cut in some places. Mohan Kafle, Secretary of Lumbini State Assembly Forest and Environment Ministry said that since 96 percent of fires are caused by human causes, awareness should be raised in this regard.
He asked them not to do humanitarian work like building fire lines, clearing leaves, not lighting fires near houses and forests. Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi said that they have prepared a task force in the district and are working to control the fire. He said that although there are some materials in the district, they are not complete, so the local level should also help in this regard. Kamalraj Timilsena, the district president of the Federation of Journalists, emphasized that there are attempts to control the fires, but since fires are happening every day, attention should also be paid to legal action.

In the Mahabharata area, more fires are caused due to salipiral . More than a dozen community forests in the district have been on fire for the past few days. There is a fire in the national and community forests. Out of 81 wards of 10 local levels of Palpa, 40 wards are at high risk of forest fires.
25 wards are medium and 16 wards are at low risk according to the Division Forest Office. Only last year there were more than 400 fire incidents. Although there were no human casualties, more than 40 houses and sheds were burnt down. The Division Forest Office said that not only in the headquarters but also in the rural areas, fire line construction, publicity and awareness campaigns have been conducted. Subba Sushil Gyawali, deputy of the division forest office, said that under the
campaign, the village police station, area forest office removed flammable material leaves near the settlements, drew fire lines, removed apples kept near houses, distributed public awareness material and managed dried leaves. 86 community forests of Palpa are at high risk of fire.
