Butwal-Narayangadh road on the eastern section has been blacked for 50 km. Out of the 63 km of Downe-Gandakot section, 50 km on one side has been black-lined.
Information officer of the project, Shiv Khanal, said that 4 km on the downhill section and 4 km on the winding road will be sloped before the rain. According to the project, the work has been accelerated by completing the one-way black sheet on 63 km of the eastern section before the rains.
The road expansion work, which was supposed to be completed in 40 months, has been completed only 58 percent in 6 years. The locals who have been suffering due to dust, mud and potholes for a long time will now have some relief. Since the closure of the highway, the Prime Minister and the relevant agencies have repeatedly appealed to the people to speed up the road construction work. However, the construction company delayed the work citing lack of funds and various reasons. Now the road expansion work is being done rapidly.
The construction should have started in March 2075 and completed in July 2079. However, the deadline was extended for the first time till 11th July 2080 due to Corona, construction materials. The deadline was extended for the second time until the 8th of July 081 after the work did not speed up even in the first extension. But after the work was not completed for the second time, the deadline was extended for the third time till 8th July 2018.
