In the last five years, 36 people have died due to tiger attacks in the district. In the past five years, 12 in the forest area and 24 in the park and intermediate areas, 36 people have died due to tiger attacks, according to the data of the Division Forest Office and Bardia National Park.

On January 25 last, 51-year-old Juna Kumari of Madhuvan Municipality-7 Gangabasti was working in Lamichhane's field when a tiger attacked her and killed her.

Similarly, 2-year-old Rihan Chaane of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-5, who was a guest at his maternal uncle's house in Bhat Chowk, Madhuvan Municipality-7, was taken away by a tiger from the yard on February 3rd at around 7 pm. From 2077/2078 to February of the current fiscal year, 53 people have died due to wild animal attacks. Out of which, the number of tiger attacks is 36, while 11 elephants, 5 tigers and 1 rhinoceros have died.

According to the statistics of Forest and Park, 20 incidents have occurred in forest areas and 33 incidents have occurred in parks and intermediate areas. According to the latest tiger count, the number of tigers killed in Bardia National Park is 125. Similarly, the number of tigers has also increased, says Ramkumar Chaudhary, Information Officer of the Division Forest Office.

Urmila Gupta, a resident of Gulria Municipality-8, said that last week, a tiger took 7 dog puppies from Sarjunadi Tapra settlement. "Locals are panicked after tigers roamed the settlement," she added, "it has become difficult to protect small children."

Rajendra Hamal, Ward President of Madhuvan Municipality-7, said that the people were panicked when wild animals like tigers and tigers coming out of the park and other forests continuously attacked domestic animals and humans. "Security personnel patrol at night to prevent wild animals from entering the settlement," he said, "we locals also patrol occasionally to help them." According to him, there have been 079/080 tigers and no deaths due to tiger attacks. In 080/081, 4 people lost their lives in tiger attacks .

According to him, until February of the current financial year, four people have died in the forest area outside the park, 1 from a rhinoceros attack, 2 from a tiger attack and 1 from an elephant attack. Officials say that due to lack of food, wild animals have started coming closer to human settlements.
