83 community forests of Dang are at high risk of fire. According to the Division Forest Office, community forests in Chure area are at high risk of fire.

According to the Division Forest Office, there has been a huge damage to the forest area due to fires in different places of Dang in recent years. Fire has started in the forests here. The incidence of fire in the forest area has started to increase due to the drying of the leaves due to the long drought and due to the wind. According to the

office, daily incidents of fires and wildfires have started to increase with the increase in summer. The forest area of Ward No. 3 and 5 of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City and the forest area of Ward No. 6 of Lamhi Municipality have caught fire.

Although community forest consumer groups have been activated by conducting zero forest fire campaign in the district, this year also like last year, fire incidents have started in national and community forests. According to Divisional Forest Office, Divisional Forest Officer Madan Prasad Dhungana told

Dhungana said that there is a risk of forest fires in Babai, Dangisaran, Ward No. 2, 3 and 5 of Ghorahi in the district, the forest around Rapti River, Ward No. 8 of Banglachuli, Salo Forest of Garhwa Rural Municipality.

Although the local level, community forest user groups, security agencies and volunteers are active for fire control, the forest fires have increased due to human negligence, he said. Even though a coordinated plan has been made for fire prevention with the district administration office, division forest office, community forest group, consumer group, fire control squad, if there is a fire in the forest, there is a problem of not having enough materials for control.

Publicizing programs for fire control, reaching schools in risk areas, school education, construction and maintenance of fire lines are happening regularly, but there are always challenges in forest fire control, said Tekan Acharya, forest officer of the Division Forest Office.

He said, "We have been conducting an awareness program about the damage caused by fires." He said that mushrooms, herbs and other crops should be grown in the forest and those who set fire to the forest should be identified and action taken. According to Acharya, most of these problems are caused by locals setting fire to the forest with the mistaken idea that when the forest area is set on fire, the weeds will grow quickly and the production of wild mushrooms will increase during the rainy season.
