Under the Siddharth highway, the physical progress of the tunnel under construction in Palpa's Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Dobhan Siddhababa area has reached 45.58 percent. According to the statement issued by the project office on Tuesday, the financial progress is 43.08 percent.
Under the project, the 2-lane main tunnel with a length of 1,089 meters has been constructed, said Krishnaraj Adhikari, head of the project. The width of its main tunnel will be 10 and a half meters and the height will be around 7 meters. The total length of this tunnel including lining will be 1,126 meters. Out of this, 250 meters of the invert work of the main tunnel to the north has already been completed. The project office said that the work of 570.4 meters of invert has been completed with 320 meters of work on the south side.
The lining work in the main tunnel is 90 meters to the north and 160 meters to the south, 250 meters of lining work has been completed. Even though all the three bypasses have a breakthrough, their invert and lining work has not started. According to the project, 1495 out of 2 thousand 300 on the south side of slope protection, 495 out of 1100 on the north side, 481 out of 9620 on MR1 mountain side, 1414 square meters out of 7440 on MR2 mountain site. According to the
project, even if the builders work on time, it will take another year to complete the vehicle. The first bypass of 151 meters, the second bypass of 161 meters and the third bypass of a distance of 130 meters have also been constructed to rescue passengers in emergency situations when vehicles are moving in the tunnel. The chief official said that since the current road has to be demolished outside, the traffic should be operated from the main tunnel.
lining, ventilation work is still left. Information officer Savita Gyawali said that the works such as concreting the walls, water proofing, road construction, slope inside the tunnel, ventilation, lining, lighting, oxygen, safety measures, installation of fire extinguisher etc. are yet to be done. After this, there are plans to build a helipad on the north and south sides of the tunnel.
This project was contracted to be completed within 5 years in February 2078. The Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which is in charge of the construction, has signed a contract for 7 billion 34 million 21 million rupees. According to the terms of the contract, the construction of the first phase should be completed within 5 years from the start of the construction i.e. on 8th Chait 2083.
When the tunnel is completed, residents of Palpa, Rupandehi, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, Syangja, Pokhara, Baglung, Mustang and other areas of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces will be able to travel safely.
