Baiju Prasad Gupta (Deepak), chairman of Palhinandan Rural Municipality of West Nawalparasi, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment and a fine of two lakhs by the district court of Parasi.

The court that found guilty on the 21st of February in the drug case decided imprisonment and fine. Bhesraj Khanal, Information Officer of the District Court, said that the bench of Judge Keshav Prasad Adhikari of the District Court, Parasi, decided to sentence two people, including Chairman Gupta. Along with imprisonment, it is mentioned in the judgment that Gupta has to pay a fine of eight thousand to the victims' relief fund. 

Raghunath Prasad Dhobi, who was found guilty in the drug case along with Gupta, was sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of four lakhs. Although a case was filed against five people including chairman Gupta, the court acquitted Jitendra Paswan and Rama Sah. Another person is still absconding.
