Murra Ranga breed improvement program successful

As part of the breed improvement program initiated by the government with the aim of raising the standard of living of farmers through animal husbandry, the sperm test of Murra Ranga has been successful. The buffalo of farmer Bamraj Regmi, a resident of Khajura Rural Municipality-2 L village, gave birth to the first calf from the semen of Murra Ranga brought from India.

Farmer Regmi informed that the buffalo, which was artificially inseminated by purchasing Murra Ranga semen from the National Animal Breeding Office, Nepalganj Gaughat, gave birth a month ago on the night of January 26.

'There was a problem of non-pregnancy in the buffalo, at that time Murra Ranga came to the National Animal Breeding Office and it was successful.' According to the farmer Regmi, who thought to raise the advanced breed Pado born from the semen of Murra Ranga and use it to improve the breed in other buffaloes of the village. 

National Animal Breeding Office Nepalgunj Gaughat has started collecting semen from the advanced breed Murra Ranga given as a subsidy by the Government of India since last year and selling and distributing it to farmers.

According to him, those who were brought to Nepalgunj on November 6 last year were brought to National Animal Breeding Office Gaughat on the 7th. Among the 15 Murra Ranga brought to Nepal, three Ranga are kept at the Nepalgunj office. Semen has been produced from two of the three cows kept in Gaughat and collected and distributed to the farmers. 

Animal service technician of National Animal Breeding Office Gaughat, Devnarayan Jaisi, informed that pado born from the semen of Murra Ranga in Khajura can be given 50% Murra breed certificate.

During the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to India, India gave Nepal Murra Ranga as a gift for the breed improvement program.
