The Nepal Electricity Authority has honored the municipality under Lumbini province for paying street light fee arrears. Municipalities and villages within the area of ​​the distribution center under Lumbini Regional Office, Butwal have been honored for regularly paying street light fees and long-standing arrears.

On behalf of the authority, Executive Director Kulman Ghising distributed letters of appreciation to the heads of 5 rural municipalities and 8 municipalities that paid street light arrears in a program held in Butwal on Wednesday.

Omsatiya, Siyari, Pratavpur, Sarawal and Susta Rural Municipality have been honored for paying street light arrears and regularly paying street light fees. Siddharthnagar, Ramgram, Bardghat, Tilottama, Kapilvastu, Sandhikharka, Bhumikasthan and Resunga Municipalities have been honoured. The municipality has been paying the arrears of the street lights for a long time and paying the fees regularly.  In the

program, the then Chief District Officers Bishwa Prakash Aryal and Skim Shrestha were also given a certificate of appreciation for their necessary coordination and support to complete the construction of the 33 KV line that could not be constructed due to the obstruction of the local residents in some places within the area of ​​the Parasi Distribution Center located in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West). 

Mentioning that 13 municipalities have done an exemplary and commendable job by regularly paying the arrears and fees of street lights placed in their area, Executive Director Ghising said in the program that this has encouraged other municipalities to pay the arrears. 

"The amount raised from arrears is a source of investment for the authority, which is working as a campaign to improve the transmission and distribution system in urban areas and to expand electricity services in rural areas," he said, "The authority will be forced to cut off the lines of those who do not become customers of street lights for arrears collection, do not support arrears fees, do not pay fees and install street lights illegally without meters, so request other municipalities to pay the arrears as well." We do .' 

Ghising said that electrification of irrigation has been advanced in collaboration with local levels to increase production and productivity through irrigation by supplying electricity to the fields of the Terai, which is a food store of Nepal, and concessions in tariffs have been arranged. "We are going to construct a 220 kV transmission line from New Butwal substation to Motipur, passing around Hulaki highway, to make electricity supply sufficient, reliable and quality in the districts of Lambini province, which have great potential for expansion of agriculture and industrial sector, to make electricity supply sufficient, reliable and quality." program, the heads of the municipalities said that since the authority is also a government body, it is the responsibility of the municipalities to pay the arrears of street lights. were . They held that the irrigation fee should be free, the infrastructure should be expanded and strengthened so that every citizen can light an electric stove, and the electric wires that are making the urban area ugly should be underground.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that the outstanding amount to be paid to the authority from various government agencies including street lights  The authority was instructed to inquire from the concerned office. Among the government offices, the highest electricity tariff arrears is for street lights. The Ministry of Finance has said that the outstanding amount of the government agency cannot be reconciled and the amount should be recovered from the relevant offices. 

The authority has been asking the local level to pay the street light fee . The Authority has requested those who are lighting street lights without meters to become customers and install street lights through meters and to pay the arrears of the lights that have been used so far. If necessary, it has been arranged that the arrears fee can be paid by asking for the facility of installments.
