Chief Minister of Lumbini State Chetnarayan Acharya has said that people should get information about every work of the government. Speaking at an orientation program on the right to information organized by the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Deukhuri on Sunday, he said that it is the natural right of the people to get information about every activity of the government.
He said that respecting the right of the people to be informed, there is a need to convey every government activity to the people. "It is our responsibility to deliver every work of the government to the people in a clear, concise and effective manner," he said, "Transparency is necessary in every work of government." We should create an environment where the public can see all our work.'
He instructed the information officers not to be slow in providing information as per the demand of the people and not to be reluctant and opaque in the flow of information. "Government should be made to feel that it works for the welfare of the people." The information requested by the people should be provided clearly and quickly," he said. "People should be able to see our working style and achievements clearly. In order to make the work of the government transparent and corruption-free, the right to information should be effectively implemented.'
He said that the chief minister's office has given instructions to appoint information officers in all offices, giving priority to promoting good governance and reducing corruption. He emphasized that all government agencies should be alert to work in the direction of addressing the expectations of the people by making the policies and programs of the government effective.
Chief Minister Acharya directed all the officers participating in the program to be serious about their responsibilities and be more active in the interest of the people. Suresh Prasad Acharya, Chief Information Commissioner of the National Information Commission, gave an orientation on the right to information.
