The inmates in the prison here have been making carpets and rugs for their income, while some have been sending them to their families to cover the expenses.

According to Laxman Singh Rathore, head of Ghorahi Jail, a prisoner earns Rs 5 to 800 for weaving a carpet and Rs 4 to 5 thousand per month for making rugs. They have made fishing nets, blankets, toys and other materials.

The carpets prepared by prisoners who received 45-day training to weave carpets from the Household and Small Industries Office are bought by relatives and others who come to visit them.
