Bichitra Cave in Dhurkot Rural Municipality of Gulmi is currently becoming an attractive center for domestic and foreign tourists. Bichitra Cave located in Dhurkot Rural Municipality-5 Bastu, five koshas north from Gulmi headquarters Tamghas, is truly bizarre.
In the year 2045, the cave was discovered for the first time by the local Janardhan Bhandari while chasing the monkey that went to eat corn in the fields. For a long time, only domestic tourists used to visit Bichitra Cave. Lately, foreign tourists have also started coming here. Bhupal Pokhrel, Chairman of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, said that so far citizens from France, Germany and the UK have come here to see the cave.
The cave is spread over an area of 185 meters long and 350 meters wide. After entering through the main door of Bichitra Cave, spread over such a long area, one can see the natural shape of five more doors. It is said that the local Janardan Bhandari went to eat corn in his field and while chasing the monkey, the monkey suddenly entered through a small hole in the middle of the guard (rock). Ward president Keshav Bhandari said that it was discovered that there was a cave after the monkey suddenly entered the guard.
The natural beauty outside Bichitra Cave has increased the beauty of the cave. It is customary to inform internal and external tourists about the history and religious significance of the cave. After entering through the main door of the cave, the various figures visible on the walls once attract the attention of every citizen.
The main attraction of Bichitra cave is the 'way to heaven'. This is considered very important. After reaching the 'way to heaven', the destination of the cave ends. It is believed that only righteous souls can enter the path to heaven. The road to heaven is very narrow. One sight that can be clearly seen there is the massive body of an elephant. The body, tail and trunk of the elephant can be clearly seen there. Since there is no scene before that, the place is considered as the last scene of strangeness.
The person who can enter there considers himself very lucky. The figures of different animals inside the cave have added more color to the beauty of the cave. Pokhrel, chairman of the rural municipality, informed that more than two crores have been spent for the development of the cave area so far from the Dhurkot rural municipality, the state and the federation. The cave is located at a distance of 18 kilometers from the headquarters of Tamghas and can be reached through the Madan Bhandari highway.
