Singer Ashok Darji has filed a complaint with the police, claiming he was assaulted. According to the District Police Office Jhapa, he lodged the complaint at the Area Police Office Birtamod on the 22nd of Asar.

According to DSP Ranjan Awa, spokesperson for the District Police Office Jhapa, the complaint states that the assault took place about a month before the application was submitted. "Based on the complaint, an investigation into the incident has begun," said DSP Awa.

In his application, Darji stated that Ankit Pradhan and a person known as Shukre from Shanischare assaulted him, calling him a 'thief-thief', recorded a video, posted it on social media, and continued to threaten him even after he requested its removal.

According to him, the incident occurred while he was visiting his maternal uncle's house. He claimed that a dispute began over a missing one thousand rupees while having snacks at Mahananda Chowk in Birtamod, and a few days later, he was assaulted while refueling his scooter near the Devibasti Gate nearby.

On Sunday evening, the video of the assault on him went viral on TikTok. The video shows a young man slapping Darji on the cheek. As the video went viral, public concern about the incident has increased.

The police stated that, based on the complaint, they have begun searching for and further investigating the individuals alleged to be involved in the incident. The police have already contacted Ankit. Shukre, however, is reported to have fled to India.

"Both the victim and the accused have been called for a discussion," said DSP Awa, "after which the facts of the incident will be known."
