The Tamor Corridor has been blocked due to flooding caused by continuous rainfall over the past two days.
The District Police Office Panchthar has stated that the Tamor Corridor was blocked after the water flow in the Nawa Khola, which flows along the border of Dhankuta and Panchthar, became very high due to the flood.
This road connects Dharan in Sunsari to Mulghat in Dhankuta, and then to Panchthar and Taplejung. With the road blocked early in the morning, vehicles and transport services traveling from Taplejung and Panchthar to Dharan and Biratnagar, as well as from Biratnagar and Dharan to the hill districts, have been stranded on the way.
As the water flow remains extremely high, the Panchthar administration has requested travelers and vehicles not to take unnecessary risks.
Similarly, due to floods and landslides, most of the roads connecting the district headquarters Fidim of Panchthar to rural municipality centers and rural markets have been blocked.
The Fidim-Falaut road has been blocked after the diversion was damaged by flooding in the Muwa Khola, and the Tharpu-Chyangthapu section of the Mid-Hill Highway is also blocked. As the rain continues, the local administration has alerted citizens to remain cautious.
Meanwhile, continuous rainfall has caused the road to subside at the Rajduwali section of the Mechi Highway in Ilam. As this road was already at risk, further subsidence has completely halted the movement of vehicles and transport services. Due to the ongoing rain, rural roads have also been blocked.
