Dhankuta Police have taken a person into custody on charges of dual citizenship and obtaining a passport based on both citizenships.
The District Administration Office, Dhankuta, has sent Dornaraj Kafle, 43, a permanent resident of Mahalaxmi Municipality-4 (formerly Murtidhunga-8), to the District Police Office, Dhankuta for investigation.
The police have said that a complaint has been filed alleging that Kafle submitted false information with wrong motives, obtained dual citizenship by hiding his actual date of birth, and obtained a passport based on both citizenships.
Based on the same complaint, the District Administration Office handed him over to the police on Thursday. Further investigation into the incident is underway, said Dhankuta Police Information Officer Hemant Bhandari Chhetri.
