Anand Kumar Sah, a sub-engineer of the Infrastructure Development Office, Bhojpur, was beaten up by a group of local workers after he raised questions about the quality of a road under construction in Bhojpur. Sah, who was injured in the incident, is undergoing treatment in Biratnagar.

The incident took place on Asad 15 at the Bhojpur-Manebhanjyang-Baikunthe-Basikhola-Balangkha-Ranitar road construction site. According to Uttam Narayan Kharel, acting chief of the Infrastructure Development Office, Dhankuta, during the inspection, a dispute arose with the workers after sub-engineer Sah raised questions about the quality of the wall under construction. As the dispute escalated,  he said that the workers hit Sah with a hammer and injured his head.

The injured Shah was immediately taken to the District Hospital, Bhojpur. Since treatment was not possible there, he was referred to the Morang Cooperative Hospital in Biratnagar, Morang for further treatment, Kharel informed. According to him, Sah's condition is now out of danger.

According to Bhojpur Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Lama, the workers were angry after Sub-Engineer Sah threatened to demolish the wall and withhold wages, saying the construction work was of low quality. The police said that initial investigation revealed that he was attacked with a water cannon during the ensuing dispute.

The police said that they have taken six people, including Gyan Bahadur Rai, Durga Prasad Rai, Pradeep Rai, Nirajan Bogati, and Pritam Rai, into custody for their involvement in the incident and have initiated an investigation into the case of indecent assault. DSP Lama said that another person involved in the incident has been kept out of the case due to his age limit and is being investigated as per the procedure.

According to Lama, the nature of the case will be determined based on the medical examination report of the injured. If the hospital report and report are normal, a case of indecent assault will be filed, while if serious injuries are confirmed, a case of mutilation and assault will be registered.
