Five of the seven local levels in Dhankuta have made public their policies, programs and budgets for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, while two rural municipalities have not yet been able to present their budgets.
Dhankuta Municipality in the district has approved a budget of Rs 768.6 million for the upcoming fiscal year. Similarly, Pakhribas Municipality has presented a budget of Rs 620 million, informed Chief Administrative Officer Sunil Poudel.
Chaubise Rural Municipality has made public a budget of Rs 558.8 million, while Shahidbhumi Rural Municipality has presented a budget of Rs 479.5 million.
Mahalaxmi Municipality in Dhankuta has presented a budget of Rs 652.3 million, informed Mahalaxmi Municipality Chief Dhruvraj Raya.
Budgets are yet to be presented in two local levels in the district. Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality has stated that it has not presented its budget, stating that internal preparations have not been completed. Information Officer of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality Dorna Bahadur Rai informed that discussions are underway to bring the budget soon.
Similarly, Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality has informed that the budget could not be made public as the rural municipality chairperson is out of the district.
According to the Local Government Operation Act, there is a provision to submit the policies and programs and budget for the upcoming fiscal year to the village and municipal assemblies by Asad 10.
