The first district convention of the National Independent Party has elected a 13-member district working committee under the chairmanship of Rajan Kumar Gurung. Gurung is a resident of Phungling Municipality-7, Dokhu. He was a candidate from the Nepali Congress in the 2074 election and became the ward chairman of Phungling 7. He did not run for any position in the 2079 election and joined the RSP.
Man Bahadur Tamang of Meringden Rural Municipality has been elected as the vice-chairman, Lila Prasad Poudel of Phungling Municipality as the secretary, and Gopal Guragain of Phungling 2 as the joint secretary. According to the RSP statute, there is a provision for the treasurer to be elected by the working committee.
The elected members include Kamal Lechharbo, Chhatra Bahadur Bishwakarma, Sushila Karki Bhotia, Shanti Siwa, Harkaraj Gurung, Navin Adhikari and Rajendra Kumar Thapa. Most of the members, including the office bearers, are residents of Phungling Municipality.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has earlier held municipal conventions in Foodlid Municipality, Siddawa, Sirijanga, Meringden, Aathraitribeni, Mikwakhola and Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality. Of the nine local levels, Phaktanglung and Maiwakhola Rural Municipality are yet to hold their own.
Yubaraj Baral has been elected as the president of Phungling Municipality, Jeevan Poudel as the president of Meringden Rural Municipality, Kabiraj Limbu as the president of Siddawa, Bhawani Prasad Dahal as the president of Sirijanga, Nupu Sherpa as the president of Mikwakhola, Sharan Tamang as the president of Pathibhara Yangwarak and Kedarnath Prasai as the president of Aathraitribeni.
