Floods and landslides caused by incessant rains have caused extensive damage to physical structures in Yangwarak Rural Municipality of Panchthar.

The floods caused by the rains on Friday night have washed away the structures built around Dobhane Khola, Tamor Khola and the Mid-Pahadi Highway, as well as some citizens' houses.

The flood has also washed away the under-construction motorable bridge connecting Panchthar and Tehrathum. Dobhane Khola in Yangwarak Rural Municipality of Panchthar and dozens of structures, including the hydropower plant operating there, have been damaged.

A landslide from above due to incessant rains has washed away the houses of Mahamlal Khabas and Kavindra Khabas, residents of Simawati Lambakhola Dhand Ekaratte of Yangwarak 3 and 7.

Even telephone communication is not possible in the area after the rains. Due to this, it is difficult to collect details of the damage, said DSP Anish Kumar Karna, Chief of the District Police Office, Panchthar.

Similarly, the flood has also damaged the suspension and concrete bridges installed over various rivers and canals in Yangwarak 1, 2 and 3. The Chyangthapu-Tharpu section of the Mid-Hill Highway has been blocked due to landslides from above.
