Pakhribas Municipality of Dhankuta has launched land administration services. The service, which was previously available only through the Land Revenue Office, was launched from the municipality from Monday.
The municipality has started the service by establishing a separate branch related to land administration. At the service launch program, Mayor Gyan Bahadur Gurung informed that the work of land registration has now started in Pakhribas itself. According to him, most of the land revenue related services including land acquisition and transfer will be provided from the municipality from next Shrawan.
Stating that until now, there was a compulsion to visit the district headquarters or the Land Revenue Office even for general work, Mayor Gurung said that time, cost and hassle would be reduced if the service was provided from the local level.
Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality Sunil Poudel said that the service would be provided systematically, transparently and technology-friendly by arranging the necessary manpower and technical management in the Land Administration Branch.
On the occasion of the service launch, the municipality also honored the first service recipients, Nirmala Shrestha and Kalpana Dawadi. Locals have expressed happiness after starting to receive land-related services from their own municipality. Mayor Gurung said that with the start of services from the municipality, administrative access will increase and residents of rural areas will directly benefit.
