The Mechi Highway in the Rajduwali area of Ilam will be closed for a week to carry out bridge repair and landslide control work.

The Road Division Ilam and the District Administration Office Ilam have issued a public notice stating that the road will be closed from 10 am to 5 pm from April 23 to 30. According to the administration, the road will be closed for a week to repair the old steel truss bridge in Rajduwali, which was damaged due to a landslide in Asoj, as well as to control landslides in the area and cut hard rocks on the road.

The notice signed by Assistant Chief District Officer Raju Prasad Poudel states that the highway has been partially closed to reduce potential risks during road repair.

As per the request of the Road Division Ilam and the decision of the District Safety Committee, vehicle movement in the Rajduwali section will be stopped during that period. The administration has urged people to use the Mechi Corridor (Golakharka-Belase) or Simalgolai-Tilkeni road as an alternative route during the closure period. Along with this, it has been stated that small vehicles can ply using the Haspokhari-Hopenchowk road from Bagkhor section.

The administration has requested not to inconvenience passengers and drivers as it is necessary for the construction work to be completed safely and systematically.
