7,642 tourists from various countries have entered Nepal through the eastern border checkpoint of Kakadbhitta. According to the Immigration Office, this number of tourists have come to Nepal in the first nine months of the current fiscal year. From Shrawan to Chaitra, tourists from 81 countries have come to Nepal through this border checkpoint, said Tulsi Bhattarai, head of the office. The highest number of tourists who have entered Nepal are Bhutanese. During this period, 4,154 Bhutanese tourists have come to Nepal. The office's records mention that after Bhutan, tourists from the United States, Thailand, Australia and the United Kingdom have come to Nepal in large numbers. Bhattarai, head of the office, said that 1,612 citizens from the United States, 525 from Thailand, 229 from Australia and 182 from the United Kingdom have come to Nepal. He informed that tourists who come to Nepal say that they go to major tourist destinations including Lumbini, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Chitwan and Gorkha.
Tourists have been using this border crossing not only to enter but also to depart from Nepal to another country. During the same period, there are statistics that 9,942 tourists left here through the Kakadbhitta border crossing.
From Shrawan to Chaitra in 2081/82, 8,070 tourists entered through this border crossing. There has been a decrease of 428 in the number of tourists arriving during the same period of the current fiscal year.
The office has stated that 1,06 tourists entered Nepal through this border crossing and 1,543 departed during the month of Chaitra of the current fiscal year. During this period, 6,691 tourist visas, 124 relative visas, 26 marriage visas and 36 non-resident visas have been issued. The office has stated that 280,520 rupees have been collected in revenue for issuing visas.
