Koshi Province's Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Indramani Parajuli has said that the issue of local level restructuring should not be taken forward lightly as it is very sensitive and directly related to the citizens.

Speaking to Kantipur after addressing the village assembly of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality in Dhankuta, Minister Parajuli expressed this view in the context of the federal government's letter requesting a review of the local level mapping and demarcation.

He clarified that it would not be appropriate to change the local level mapping and demarcation repeatedly, saying that trying to change the complete structure again when the local level has not even completed a decade of operation would not send a good message. 'Restructuring without detailed study and adequate preparation cannot take the country in the right direction,' Minister Parajuli said, 'It can even cause economic loss.'

According to him, local level restructuring should be done only on the basis of long-term needs. 'It is appropriate to go for restructuring only after considering the needs and possibilities of at least 40-50 years,' he emphasized.

Minister Parajuli also expressed the view that the number of wards should be increased as per the need rather than reducing it. He said that structural stability is necessary to make the local level more effective and people-oriented.
