A fire broke out in two industries operating in Birtamod Municipality-4 this morning.

The fire caused extensive damage to the industries, informed Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, Information Officer of the District Police Office. At around 4:15 this morning, a fire broke out simultaneously in the 'Jhapali Chips Factory' operated by Bhakti Prasad Upreti and 'Saugat Kastha Furniture' operated by Chandra Prasad Kharel.

The police have initially estimated that the fire caused a loss worth around Rs 10 million as raw materials, finished goods and machinery of both industries were destroyed.

The fire was extinguished a short while ago with the help of the Area Police Office Birtamod, the police team from the Armed Police Base Camp Shanishchare, the fire brigade of Birtamod, Bhadrapur and Mechinagar municipalities and locals.

The cause of the fire has not been revealed and further investigation into the incident is underway, the police said.
