The 'Kopche Festival' is to be organized by covering the lower and upper Kopche areas of Dhankuta, which are of historical and cultural importance.

Local youth have been conducting a Kopche revival campaign to revive the declining activity and economic activities in Dhankuta, which was known as the administrative center of the East for about 250 years.

Under the same campaign, the fourth edition of the Kopche Festival is to be organized in Hatiya from Chaitra 30 to Baisakh 2 with the slogan 'Preserving originality, promoting tourism'.

According to Ujjwal Karmacharya, secretary of the campaign, the festival is being organized with the aim of preserving originality and bringing about economic and social transformation through tourism development. He informed that local art, culture, costumes, traditions and original food will be promoted through the festival.

The festival will feature cultural dance and music performances of various ethnic communities, stalls of original food, an exhibition of old photographs of Dhankuta, an exhibition of local handicrafts and a sales room. In addition, it is said that an interactive program will be organized on measures to preserve culture and promote tourism. Seven subcommittees have been formed to make the program successful, and about 20 stalls will be operated throughout the festival.

Similarly, it is said that the festival will also be linked to the 'Jiwant Hadigaun Abhiyan' being conducted for the preservation and promotion of originality. Vice-chairman of the campaign, Ridham Shrestha, informed that the festival is being organized by including all ethnic, gender, religious and geographical communities.

According to the organizers, the goal is to develop Dhankuta as an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists by preserving historical, cultural and natural originality.
