A bridge under construction at Mewakhola in Yangbarak Rural Municipality-2 of Panchthar has been damaged by floods. The flood deepened the river level, causing the bridge's abutments and foundations to collapse, as well as other structures.

A 40-meter-long bridge was being constructed at Mewakhola on the Mid-Hill Highway. The construction of a new bridge was resumed after the flood on Aso 12, 2081 washed away the bridge.

According to Sanjay Mishra, head of the Mid-Hill Highway Phidim Project Office, the bridge collapsed again after about 90 percent of the work was completed.

The bridge, which was contracted to build by Saroj Nirman Sewa at a cost of Rs 77.6 million, collapsed on Chaitra 20.

Due to the lack of a bridge at Mewakhola, citizens of Cyangthapu and Falaicha in the northern region, as well as Sadewa and Kalikakhola areas of Taplejung, have been suffering. Similarly, a 35-meter-long bridge under construction on the Neruwa River in Taplejung has also been destroyed by the flood. The construction work on that bridge had also reached the final stage.

The bridge on the Neruwa River was being constructed by Sanjeev Nirman Sewa at a cost of Rs 74.7 million.
