Various human rights organizations based in Dhankuta have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding an impartial investigation into the gang rape and murder of a teenager, Inisha Bik, in Birendranagar, Surkhet.

They sent the memorandum to the Prime Minister through Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Khadka on Wednesday. The memorandum strongly demands a fair, transparent and serious investigation into the incident.

The memorandum demands that the culprits not be acquitted under any influence, pressure or pretext, that strict action be taken against any attempt to reduce the age of the accused or forge evidence, and that justice, security and necessary support be ensured to the victim's family.

Dalit Development Center Nepal President Gopal Baraili objected to the attempt to reduce the age of the four accused involved in the incident and make them appear as minors. He urged the principle that 'no kind of bargaining is acceptable in justice' be strictly implemented

According to Baraili, civil society and human rights activists have also been called upon to raise their voices strongly on this issue.

Dalit Development Center Nepal President Baraili, Dalit Women's Association Dhankuta President Laxmi Pariyar, Dhankuta Ladies' Association President Tika Rai, and National Campaign for Women's Rights Dhankuta President Parbati Bhandari, among others, had reached the District Administration Office to submit the memorandum.
