Pakhribas Municipality of the district is preparing to present 13 major plans worth Rs 30 million in the upcoming municipal assembly, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure and social services.

Plans worth Rs 29.45 million will be presented in the 17th winter municipal assembly called for Monday, informed Mayor Gyan Bahadur Gurung. According to the municipality, priority has been given to increasing agricultural production, encouraging education and sports, and improving basic infrastructure in the proposed plans.

Under the proposed plan, a budget of Rs 600,000 has been proposed for the purchase of hybrid rice seeds, Rs 800,000 for land registration and land revenue management, and Rs 400,000 for the distribution of free electricity meters.

Similarly, it has been proposed to allocate Rs 750,000 for the purchase of fruit seedlings, construction of tunnels and management of water ponds. There is a plan to allocate Rs 1.8 million for land management for the agricultural campus, Rs 1.7 million for the construction of a covered hall at Jalpa Devi Secondary School, and Rs 450,000 for conducting SEE additional coaching classes for secondary school students within the city.

In the municipal assembly, a budget of Rs 2 million will be proposed for agricultural cooperatives as seed capital, Rs 3.4 million for thatched roof replacement program, Rs 8 million for the purchase of hume pipes, and Rs 8 million for the deep-boring drinking water project in Uttarpani and Pakhribas areas. Similarly, Rs 5 million has been proposed for agricultural market management and Rs 1.1 million for the operation of football, volleyball and badminton sports activities.

According to the municipality, preparations are also being made to arrange additional budget for drinking water, roads, schools and institutional development programs based on the demands received from the wards. The municipality has also put forward plans to arrange for a watchman to control monkeys and other wild animals for crop protection, operate ward-level service camps and enter into an agreement with Birat Neuro Hospital regarding discounts on treatment services. Similarly, the municipality has stated that the upgrading of the Arun Corridor Road connecting wards 6, 8 and 10 has also been given priority.

Mayor Gurung expressed confidence that the proposed plan will accelerate the overall development of the city. "Since the economic base of the city is agriculture, we have given priority to programs that will directly benefit farmers," he said. "We expect programs such as fruit cultivation expansion, seed capital management, tunnel and water pond construction to help increase agricultural production and income."

He also mentioned that the municipality has paid attention to improving basic infrastructure in rural areas, adding that the purchase of humus pipes, drinking water schemes and road upgrading will make the daily lives of local residents easier.
