Pushpa Bahadur Koirala, the Dhankuta district in-charge of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), has resigned from his post.

Addressing the party's Kirant Limbuwan Province Committee, he resigned from the post of Dhankuta district in-charge and acting in-charge of Sankhuwasabha district. He mentioned on his social media that he resigned with effect from Falgun 30, 2082.

In the resignation letter, it is mentioned that the party participated in the election held on Falgun 21, 2082 as per the policy of using the election as a front for struggle. He said that the party went to the election with an agenda such as taking action against corruption, protecting national independence, and abolishing the MCC.

He said that despite reaching out to the people with a program to make education, health, electricity, and drinking water free and to establish socialist federalism with priority, the expected votes could not be obtained.

Stating that despite having some influence among the people, he received only partial votes, he has resigned from his position, stating that it is not morally appropriate for him to continue in office. Koirala is also a central member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).
