Gokundeshwar Secondary School in Siran Bazaar, Dhankuta has celebrated its 93rd anniversary with various programs. On the occasion of the anniversary, donors to the revolving fund, outstanding students in extracurricular activities and students who excelled in various sports competitions were honored with certificates, trophies and cash.

Special felicitations were given to Dr. Ambika Mohan Joshi, patron of the Kamala Joshi Memorial Endowment Fund. Joshi, who was born in Tanahun and is currently living in Kathmandu, has established a revolving fund of Rs 2 million in the school. From the interest received from the fund, four poor and meritorious students who have passed SEE from Gokundeshwar Secondary School and are studying in grades 11 and 12 in the same school will be provided scholarships every year, informed Principal Yagya Prakash Chapagain. So far, more than Rs 2.7 million has been deposited in the school's revolving fund.

On this occasion, Bhojraj Khatri, President of the Teacher-Parent Association, was honored for his contribution to improving the educational quality of the school and the management side.

Students who performed well in the three-day sports competition organized under the program were also awarded. Principal Chapagain said that students who achieved excellent positions in various sports disciplines including football, volleyball, and athletics were awarded.

Similarly, students who performed well in the folk dance competition organized between Dhankuta municipality-level institutional and community schools were also honored. Tamor Valley Secondary School came first in the competition, the host Gokundeshwar Secondary School came second, and Tulsi Mehar Secondary School came third. The winning schools were awarded Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 2,000 in cash, certificates, and trophies, respectively.

Meanwhile, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, which operates in Dhankuta, has provided stationery and bags to 30 poor and underprivileged students studying in grades 1 to 9 at Gokundeshwar Secondary School under its social responsibility program. Principal Chapagain said that students who achieved excellence in the school's internal examinations were also awarded scholarships and prizes.

In the program, Principal Chapagain presented the school's annual audit, social audit, activities in the school, and future plans.
