UML Dhankuta has expelled Muna Rai, the vice-chairperson of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, from the party, accusing her of non-cooperation in the House of Representatives elections.
The extended meeting of the UML District Committee held on Wednesday decided to take action against Rai by removing her from the party's membership.
Rai was elected as the vice-chairperson of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality from the UML in the 2079 BS local level elections. She was also a member of the CPN-UML Dhankuta District Committee.
According to Rabin Kattel, head of the UML Dhankuta Publicity Department, action has been taken against Rai for allegedly not cooperating with the party during the recently concluded House of Representatives member elections.
The UML has also stated that an investigation has been launched against other leaders and cadres on charges of harming the party. The District Committee has formed a special committee for this.
Necessary action will also be taken against other leaders and cadres who engage in activities against the party based on the study report to be submitted by the committee, said Kattel, head of the Publicity Department.
