A random inspection has been conducted at Thalathale Bazaar in Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality-6 of Dhankuta. 

On Thursday, a joint team of the District Administration Office, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inland Revenue Office, Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office and National Consumer Forum conducted an inspection at about a dozen grocery and retail shops in Thalathale Bazaar area under the organization of the Cottage and Small Industries Office, Dhankuta. During the inspection, various expired food and beverages were found and confiscated and destroyed, the team said.

During the inspection, expired beverages and bakery food items including Sprite, Dew, Coke, Fanta were found in the shops.

According to Sushil Koirala, Food Inspection Officer of the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office, some shops even had food items with unclear production and expiry dates.

Similarly, Information Officer Bikash Karki of the Cottage and Small Industries Office, Dhankuta said that price lists were not displayed in some shops and instructions were given to keep them mandatory. The team has warned against selling and distributing non-food items and warned that legal action will be taken if such actions are repeated in the coming days. 

Information Officer Karki said that market monitoring will be intensified to prevent consumers from being cheated.
