Preparations are underway to provide skill-based training to temporary police deployed for the security of the House of Representatives elections in Dhankuta with the aim of linking them with income generation and enterprise development.

A plan has been put forward to have 989 election security police deployed in Dhankuta participate in various skill-based training in coordination with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Home and Small Industries Office, Dhankuta.

Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Khadka said that this initiative has been taken with the aim of sending temporary police officers home after teaching them skills that will help them earn a living rather than sending them back empty-handed. According to him, it has been proposed to conduct training in hotel management, plumbing, electrician, furniture and woodworking, among others, after discussing with the technical school and home office in Uttarpani.

Through the training, the participants will also be informed about the possibilities of home-based enterprises, the process of establishing industries, investment management and business operation models. Pradya Khadka informed that preparations are also being made to connect trained temporary police officers with concessional home enterprise loans in collaboration with banks and financial institutions.

According to him, training will be provided to interested temporary police officers based on their choice. 'The aim is to inspire them towards entrepreneurship by informing them about the opportunities to earn money quickly even from small jobs,' Khadka said. 'Even if only five hundred people take the training, a small income path can be opened for about 2,500 families.'

He informed that preparations are being made to conduct training in hotel management, plumbing, electrician, furniture and carpentry, and sewing-cutting in coordination with the technical school and home office in Uttarpani.

In addition, the administration has stated that discussions are underway to provide training in technical work such as mobile and motorcycle repair, welding, house painting, and salon services. Pradya Khadka said that priority has been given to employment sectors where even people with little education can start at home or in the village after a short training.

A plan has been made to attract election security police towards agriculture and animal husbandry through training. He said that information will be provided about the possibility of earning income at home with small investment from activities such as poultry farming, goat farming, mushroom farming, vegetable farming, and beekeeping.

Superintendent of Police at District Police Office Dhankuta, Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri, also said that the program has been brought forward with the aim of providing skills that will be useful in the long term to temporary police. 'Those who want to study study, those who want to go abroad go abroad, but if skills can be taught to those who want to stay in the village and start a small industry or business, it will help them in their future,' he said.

According to the administration, information will be provided about various types of cottage industries, the use of resources available at the local level, the possibilities of operating small enterprises, and various aspects of job creation through the training. The aim is to connect temporary police to enterprise and income-generating activities and produce small entrepreneurs at the local level. The election security police will be given a holiday on Falgun 28. It is stated that an orientation on cottage industries and income-generating activities will be conducted before that.
