Targeting the upcoming House of Representatives elections, Kirant Yakthung Chumlung, District Branch Dhankuta has warned of launching a 'no vote' campaign if there is no commitment. At a press conference organized on Saturday, the organization made it clear that it will not support candidates if they do not have a clear position on their main issues.

District President Hem Kumar Limbu informed that the 'Save Mukumlung', 'No Koshi' and 'No Keval Kar' campaigns have been put forward as the main agenda. He said that political parties and candidates should make clear written commitments on issues related to history, culture and identity.

'We raise this issue when leaders come to seek votes,' said President Limbu, 'Candidates who do not agree to and commit to implementing our 15-point demands will not be supported.'

The 15-point demand made public by the organization includes issues such as protection of the Mukumlung region, disagreement with the naming of Koshi Province, opposition to the construction of cable cars, and protection and ensuring the rights of the Yakthung/Limbu community, language, culture, and historical geography.

Chumlung has stated that it is trying to bring the issue of identity and self-determination to the center of the election debate. The organization's officials have indicated that they may even announce a protest program if the community's issues are ignored.
