A gruesome murder case took place in a Nepali family in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA, on Monday morning local time. The incident had been going on in Rampur, Belka Municipality-9, Udayapur district since Tuesday morning.

The reason why the locals were interested in this incident was because the locals were talking about the main accused in the incident, Chhatra Bahadur Thapa. According to Fairfax Police, Chhatra Bahadur Thapa, 50, who killed his 31-year-old daughter Mamta Thapa and his 51-year-old wife Binda Thapa, was killed in a police operation. Explaining the incident, the local police chief Kevin Davis said that Chhatra Bahadur, who was involved in the murder, was also killed in the police operation.

The main accused Chhatra Bahadur was known as 'Milan' in the village. Chhatra's relatives and acquaintances are shocked after this gruesome murder. Chhatra's son Mausam, who lives in Rampur, is even more distraught. Why was the wedding of Chhatra's younger daughter, Mausam's sister Manisha, scheduled for Wednesday only?

Before the murder incident reached the village, preparations were being made for Manisha's wedding in Chataradham in Sunsari. Mausam said that he received the news of the death of his parents and sister while they were preparing to go to the wedding, saying, "Relatives and friends were gathering for the wedding. We are in disbelief at what we are going through." While Chhatra himself was seeking advice from America regarding this wedding.

Sushil Thapa, a relative of the deceased Chhatra Bahadur, said that Chhatra, who used to run a mill for grinding wheat along with farmers in the village, had reached America with his wife last Asoj. He said that his daughter Mamta had invited his parents to visit America. Mamta had reached America in 2073 BS through DV.

Chhatra's daughter Manisha said that she had spoken to her father only the day before the incident, that is, Sunday. She said that her father had been trying to come to Nepal, but it had not been possible and that her father had left work some time ago. She said, "I had also spoken to my mother and sister that day. Everything was smooth. There was no difference." She said that there should be a proper investigation into this incident and the truth should come out. She said, “We also suspect that the facts have been distorted.”

Fairfax Police Chief Kevin Davis, speaking to reporters about the incident, said it was difficult for him to even describe it. “I can’t even imagine what was going on inside those four walls,” he said.
