Nepal Army patrols begin in rural areas of Sankhuwasabha

The Nepal Army has tightened security arrangements in rural and sensitive areas of Sankhuwasabha, targeting the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21.

The army has set up bases in various rural areas of the district to conduct the election in a peaceful, fair and fear-free environment and has started regular patrols from Wednesday.

The Nepali Army's Indra Dal unit has been mobilizing in all 10 local levels since Wednesday and has been conducting regular patrols. The unit has stated that the army has been mobilized in various parts of the district as per the government's decision.

The Nepali Army will remain in the outer security cordon throughout the election period, while the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, National Investigation Department and Election Police will also be mobilized throughout the district as needed. There is a plan to tighten the security arrangements by coordinating among all four security agencies.

According to Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya, security agencies will be mobilized targeting the election and observing the situation. She said that all necessary security arrangements have been made to conduct the election peacefully.

With the activation of the security agencies, it is expected that the people of the district will be able to vote in a safe and fear-free environment.
