Basic training has begun for election security police selected for election security in the district. The training was formally inaugurated by Dhankuta Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Khadka by handing over the baton to election security police Durga Bahadur Niraula.

Although the training was officially scheduled to start on Magh 18, the training started on Saturday as the personnel had to be deployed geographically far away, informed Dhankuta Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarat Kumar Thapa Chhetri.

At the inauguration program organized in Tallo Tundikhel, information was given about the nature of the work to be done by the election security police, the training period, the services and facilities they will receive, and the procedures related to the training. It is said that the selected candidates will be given 10 days of basic training at the District Police Office Dhankuta, Chhintang and Rajarani Area Police Office, Pakhribas, Hile, Bhedetar and other places. SP Thapa Chhetri said that training has been arranged at the appropriate place and they will be deployed in their work areas after Magh 25.

1,085 election security police have been selected in Dhankuta. This manpower will be deployed at the rate of 10 people in highly sensitive polling stations, 6 people in sensitive ones, and 5 people in general polling stations in coordination with the Nepal Police.

There are a total of 119 polling stations and 166 polling stations in the district. Of these, 16 polling stations are highly sensitive, 49 are sensitive and the remaining polling stations are normal, informed Chief District Officer Khadka. Meanwhile, the process of opening bank accounts of the election security police is about to begin. The salaries and facilities of security personnel who already have bank accounts will be sent to their accounts, and those who do not have accounts have been asked to open accounts in a bank of their choice, said SP Thapa. There are 118,424 voters in Dhankuta.
