The Koshi Provincial Government has decided to recommend to the Provincial Chief to convene the upcoming winter session of the Provincial Assembly for Magh 25.
The cabinet meeting held today recommended convening the provincial assembly meeting from 2 pm on Magh 25, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Indramani Parajuli informed.
Informing about the decisions of the meeting, Minister Parajuli informed that the session will be held at Birendra Hall in Biratnagar as an alternative arrangement as the provincial assembly is currently in the process of constructing its own building and secretariat. He said that the meeting is going to be held at a monthly rent of Rs. 800,000.
The cabinet meeting has also made 6 other important decisions related to the development and legal structure of the province. The government has approved the Koshi Province Planning Commission Formation and Operation (Formation Order) 2082, which has been amended by the Law, Justice and Provincial Affairs Committee of the Council of Ministers. Similarly, it has given in-principle consent to prepare a draft of the Koshi Province Legal Aid Bill to make arrangements related to legal aid in the province. The meeting has passed a proposal to provide tax exemption to vehicles used in the Koshi Pump Chandranahar Irrigation Project, which is being operated under a mutual agreement between the governments of Nepal and Japan towards development projects.
It has been decided to provide 12.5 percent matching funds from the provincial government to effectively operate the Rural Road Network Improvement Project. Under this program, the federal government has provided 770 million capital and 70 million current. It is said that the Council of Ministers has approved the Koshi People's Housing Procedure 2082 with standards to secure the housing rights of the poor citizens.
