Only after the second extension of the deadline in Dhankuta has the required number of applications been received for the election police.

The deadline for applications was extended twice due to insufficient number of election police officers for Dhankuta. In Dhankuta, 1,085 election police officers, including 989 for the Nepal Police and 96 for the Armed Police Force, have been recruited.

In the second round, more applications were received than the demand and preparations are underway to publish the results after completing the selection process, informed Dhankuta Superintendent of Police Sarat Kumar Thapa Chhetri. Thapa said that the selected election police officers will be deployed in their work areas after being given basic training in Lower Tundikhel, Dhankuta from Magh 15.

There are 118,425 voters in Dhankuta. 119 polling stations and 166 polling stations have been designated for voting. Out of these, 16 polling stations are on the list of highly sensitive. Similarly, 49 sensitive and 54 polling stations have been considered normal. There will be a minimum of 3 police officers and 10 election police officers in sensitive polling stations.

SP Thapa Chhetri said that there is a system to increase the police force based on the situation of the polling station and the number of voters.  In sensitive areas, there are at least 3 police officers and 6 election police officers, and in normal areas, there are 5 election police officers along with 3 police officers.
