Less than a month after the murder of a Magar couple in Bhadaure, Chishankhugadhi-6, a Rai couple has been murdered again.

Chandra Bikram Rai, aged 81, and his wife Chandramaya Rai, aged 80, of Bohore Tole in the same ward were murdered last night.

Locals have said that the Rai couple, who were running a shop, were probably murdered after a robbery. According to the District Police Office, the body of the husband was found covered in a sack on the bed of the second floor of the house, and the body of the wife was found covered in a sack on the floor next to the bed.

The news of their deaths was received at the Nishankhe police post at around 7:40 am on Tuesday. As soon as the police team received information about the incident, security arrangements were tightened at the scene, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Madan KC. He said, "The scene of the incident has been secured, and police have been mobilized for further investigation and security."

The Magar couple was murdered after a robbery in Gairigaun, Bhadaure on December 15. Before that, on October 26, a single woman, Ratna Kumari Katwal (Karki), was also murdered in Siddhicharan Municipality-4, Charkhu. Four youths, Sangam Rai alias Milan, Binod Rai, Prakash Bhujel, and Ashok Bhujel alias Dorje, have been arrested and are being investigated for their involvement in the murder.

The murder of another couple in the same place in a similar manner has created panic among the locals. The serial murders have left locals terrified and security challenges have increased. Locals have urged the police to immediately identify the culprits and bring them to justice, saying that such incidents in villages pose a threat to the security of citizens.
