A person has been arrested with an 18-ton moon necklace and two more tolas of silver that were stolen from Anmol Jewelers on Sunday.
The theft took place at 5:30 pm when no one was around at Anmol Jewelers, located in the name of Amrit Kumar Bishwakarma, in Birendra Chowk, Phungling Municipality-2.
The owner immediately informed the police after the moon necklace was missing from the shop. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Prasad Gautam, the chief of the District Police Office, Taplejung, immediately arrived and started an investigation by looking at the CCTV footage.
During the investigation, the Police Office has informed that 22-year-old Dennis Gurung of Phungling Municipality-2 was taken into custody along with the moon necklace. The police have stated that further investigation is underway into the incident.
