The second convention of the Alliance held in Biratnagar on Saturday unanimously elected Thapa as the chairman for a three-year term.

The second convention of the Alliance held in Biratnagar on Saturday unanimously elected Thapa as the chairman for a three-year term. Although the newly formed working committee will have 17 members, only 11 have been selected. The remaining 6 will be nominated by balancing regional, geographical and ethnic groups. The Alliance, formed with the aim of protecting, promoting and raising a strong voice against human rights violations, has stated that it will expand its activities throughout the Koshi Province. Newly elected Chairman Thapa expressed his commitment to move forward in collaboration with civil society, stakeholders and state mechanisms for the respect and protection of human rights. He said that the Alliance will remain active in raising awareness about human rights in Koshi Province, initiatives to provide justice to victims and implementation of fundamental rights provided by the Constitution.
