A total of 18 candidates, both party-affiliated and independent, have registered their candidacies in Dhankuta for the House of Representatives elections to be held on March 21. Those who have registered their candidacies include young people who have already served as ministers twice and those who have recently entered politics.
Rajendra Rai, who has become a candidate for the fourth time from the CPN-UML, has entered the election with a commitment to systematize the constitution and laws, increase employment through enterprises and reduce poverty . Rai had won the 2074 BS and 2079 BS elections for the House of Representatives. He said that he has filed his candidacy for the fourth time to complete the work he had started in the past . After registering his candidacy, Rai said, 'I have the blessings of the people of Dhankuteli, I will work keeping their feelings in mind .'
Dinesh Rai, President of Nepali Congress Dhankuta, has filed his candidacy for the election of a member of the House of Representatives for the first time . He belongs to the marginalized Aathpahariya community and was a candidate for Dhankuta Municipality in the 2074 BS and 2079 BS local level elections . But he was defeated in both elections .
He has filed his candidacy for the election to be held on Falgun 21, and has stated that he will commercialize the agricultural potential in Dhankuta and work on developing education, health and infrastructure . He said that he has a long-term plan to reduce migration from Dhankuta and will make Dhankuta a beautiful place through its implementation.
Similarly, he said that to restore the reputation of the administrative center of the past for 240 years, he will prepare and operate the model education and health infrastructure of the Koshi Hills district in Dhankuta. He said, 'I am a young candidate of the Congress who has changed the old leader and policy, and my ultimate goal is to change the face of Dhankuta.'
Dharmaraj Poudel, who holds a master's degree in rural development, has become a candidate for the House of Representatives from the Nepali Communist Party. Poudel, who was also the then (2051-054) President of the JVS, claims that he has a development plan according to the geography of Dhankuta. He stated that he has filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives to complete the development roadmap drawn when he was the JVS President. Poudel says, 'Only I have the best plan for the systematic development of this district.'
The National Democratic Party has nominated Bibhatsu Thapa as its candidate for the House of Representatives. Thapa, 30, who hails from Muga, Dhankuta, says he will represent the younger generation. He has expressed his commitment to work to solve the problems of drinking water and irrigation in Dhankuta.
He said that he will contribute to the road system and mass employment generation in Dhankuta. He said, 'Small cottage and small industries are the means to make the citizens of Dhankuta rich, and my priority will be their development and promotion.'
The National Independent Party has nominated Dinesh Bhandari as its candidate. Bhandari, who is active in the education sector, is new to politics. He appeared in public politics only after the candidacy of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. He said that his candidacy is to create an environment where Nepalis can study and work in Nepal. Bhandari said that he has entered the election with the concept of good governance and latest development.
The Shram Sanskriti Party has nominated San Bahadur Rai, a youth from Bhirgaun, as its candidate. Rai said that his candidacy is to eliminate the painful situation of foreign employment and create an environment for self-employment and self-entrepreneurship. He said, 'It is only through Shramdan that families and the country can be built, and the development of that system is possible only through the Shram Sanskriti Party.'
