After Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma announced that he would not be a candidate in the upcoming House of Representatives elections, a new name has been recommended for Jhapa Constituency No. 1.
The meeting of the Nepali Congress Constituency No. 1 Regional Committee held on Saturday recommended the names of five people to the Central Committee, said Regional President Indra Budhathoki. Those recommended are All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, advocate Ashok Kumar Pokharel, Bina Tamang, Gautam Majumdar and Subesh Kumar Paneru.
The party's then General Secretary and current Vice President Sharma was elected to the House of Representatives from this constituency in the 2079 elections.
Last month, the party's regional committee had recommended the single name of Vice President Sharma as a candidate. After Sharma announced that he would not be a candidate this time, a new name was recommended again, said Regional President Budhathoki.
