The Maghe Sankranti festival is being celebrated with traditional and cultural fervor in various places in Dhankuta district.
On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, devotees have been thronging various monasteries, temples, rivers and streams in the district since morning.
Maghi is being celebrated by organizing various programs at Mulghat, Teliya Khola, Chharuwa Khola, the confluence of Tamor River and Tribeni in Dhankuta, Leguwa, Baghe Khola, Hile and Muga.
Makar Mela, Makar Snan, various cultural programs and sports competitions are being organized at these places. The Magar Association has organized cultural programs including Rayali and Hurrara dance in Hile Bazaar.
Similarly, a bullfighting competition has been organized in Muga of Pakhribas. According to the organizers, Maghe Sankranti has been contributing to social harmony, mutual unity and cultural preservation.
On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, people are celebrating the festival by bathing, performing pujas and eating traditional dishes including chaku, sesame laddu, ghee, yam, and sakharkhand.
