Police have seized an ambulance carrying 449 kg of marijuana from Bhedetar in the district. The quantity of marijuana was found during a check on Monday of an ambulance (Na 4 Cha 6474) heading from Dhankuta to Dharan.
When the ambulance was stopped for inspection, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. During the search, banned narcotics, marijuana, were found inside the ambulance, said Dhankuta Police Chief Superintendent of Police Sarat Kumar Thapa Chhetri.
He said that 449 kg of marijuana, packed in white and black plastic and kept in 15 bags, was recovered inside the ambulance. Police said that a search is underway for the absconding driver.
