500 patients with various diseases have sought services at a free health camp held in Pakhribas, Dhankuta.
The camp organized at Sayapatri Boarding School in Pakhribas provided specialist services related to heart, kidney, teeth, bones and joints, nerves, diabetes, arthritis, hair, nose and ear, throat, video X-ray, gynecology and obstetrics, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Pakhribas Municipality Mayor Gyan Bahadur Gurung said that the camp was organized to help citizens living in remote areas and those outside the reach of health services in identifying and treating diseases. The municipality organized and managed the specialist services with the technical support of the Neuro Cardio Multispecialty Hospital in Biratnagar.
The hospital administration stated that 100 people underwent heart tests, 120 people underwent video X-rays, 300 people underwent diabetes tests, 50 people underwent dental X-rays, and 38 people underwent bone and joint services. Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Pakhribas Municipality and Neuro Cardio Multispecialty Hospital in Biratnagar to provide special discounts and concessions to the citizens of Pakhribas Municipality.
Pakhribas Municipality Mayor Gyan Bahadur Gurung and Operational Director Rajesh Bhattarai signed the memorandum of understanding on behalf of the hospital. Now, patients of Pakhribas Municipality who seek treatment at Neuro Cardio Multispecialty Hospital in Biratnagar will get up to 15 percent discount on services including tests, medicines, beds and surgeries, informed Bharat Shrestha, the hospital's external access program coordinator.
Similarly, poor patients will get 50 percent discount on outpatient services and 25 percent discount on other treatment services on the recommendation of the municipality, informed Shrestha. The memorandum of understanding with the hospital is believed to facilitate the treatment of poor and low-income citizens, said Gurung, Mayor of Pakhribas Municipality.
