The long-standing water problem of local citizens has been resolved after the Silichung Drinking Water Project came into operation in the Bhojpur district headquarters area.
The Silichung Water Supply and Sanitation Main Consumer Committee has stated that 'One House, One Tap' has been connected to 2,650 households in six wards including the Bhojpur market area through the project. According to the committee's office chief Krishna Sagar Tamang, the extreme drinking water problem seen in the market and surrounding wards has been eliminated after the project was launched. Committee chairman Tufan Kirat informed that water was collected from five springs - Bhulke Muhan, Dadhuwa Muhan, Jorsaghu Muhan, Tindhara Muhan and Tin Bhangale - and distributed to the homes of local citizens. Two water treatment centers have also been brought into operation under the project with the aim of providing pure drinking water to the locals. 'We are working with the goal of providing easy drinking water to the local citizens,' said Chairman Kirat. 'After the project came into operation, the water problem of the citizens of the surrounding wards along with the market area has been eliminated.'
Water is being distributed through the project by constructing 11 tanks with a capacity of 10,095 liters. Citizens of Bhojpur Municipality-5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 have been consuming drinking water through this project.
Locals who were facing severe water shortage in the past have found relief after the completion of the project in Chaitra 2078 at a cost of about Rs. 500 million under the Citizen Urban Drinking Water and Sanitation Project. Local citizens have responded that daily life has become easier with the operation of the project.
