15 candidates contest Purbanchal University Professors' Association elections

Fifteen candidates have filed nominations for six positions in the Eastern University Professors' Association to be held on Thursday. Eight central members have been elected unopposed.

Four candidates have filed for the post of President. Navin Lamichhane, Dr. Niraj Kumar Mishra, Naresh Kumar Sah and Bhupendra Bahrakoti have filed their candidacies for the post of President. Similarly, three candidates have filed their candidacies for the post of Vice President. 

Shankar Prasad Dahal, Drishti Vasti and Jeevan Thapa have filed their candidacies, informed Election Committee member Deepak Kumar Khatiwada. Jeevan Thapa has re-elected as Vice President. He is the outgoing Vice President. 

Similarly, two candidates have filed their candidacies for the post of General Secretary. Durga Prasad Vastola and Dr. Prasanna Dahal have filed their candidacies for the post of General Secretary. Pukar Chaudhary and Diksha Poudel have filed their candidacies for the post of Secretary. 

After Raman Kumar Karna, who had filed his candidacies, withdrew his candidacies, only two candidates are left in the race for Secretary. Similarly, two candidates have filed their candidacies for Treasurer. Pramila Sinha and Avinash Kumar Mandal have filed their candidacies for the post of Treasurer. Rohit Sharma and Bhola Nath Luintel have been nominated for the open member.

Six central members have been elected unopposed. The unopposed members are Asmita Shrestha from the female member, Jagarnath Sah from the Engineering Campus, and Madan Bahadur Thapa from the Agriculture and Forestry Campus. 

Similarly, Rakesh Thakur from the Science and Technology Campus, Sushil Regmi from the Medical Campus, Rakesh Kumar Adhikari from the Teaching Hospital, Pradeep K.C. from the Management Campus, and Manoj Kumar Mehta from the Janata Adarsh ​​​​Multiple Campus have been elected unopposed. The election committee has stated that the election for the remaining 6 posts will be held on Poush 17.
