All laboratory testing services will be available 24 hours a day at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

According to the Institute's spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Anju Pradhan, the laboratory test reports conducted through automated, semi-automated and kit-based technology will be provided within two hours for patients of emergency and emergency health services (EHS) services and within three hours for patients of outpatient and inpatient (OPD and IPD) services from the time the sample is received.

Pradhan informed that the 'Central Laboratory' has been started operating from Poush 5 by integrating the currently operating emergency lab and routine lab. Earlier, only limited types of tests were available from the emergency lab.

The new arrangement will end the double process of sending separate samples to the routine lab and emergency lab. Also, the spokesperson said that the patient's laboratory test reports are expected to be available on time and easily during ward rounds. The Institute has stated that laboratory sample collection will be available round the clock for patients of emergency, IPD and EHS (OPD and IPD) services.
