The Koshi Province Traffic Police Office, Itahari, has seized five Bolero vehicles that were illegally imported from India and operated with forged engine and chassis numbers.
The traffic police made public the vehicles seized from Taplejung on different dates on Tuesday. Superintendent of Police Deepak Giri informed that the details of the seized vehicles did not match even with the Transport Management Office.
The office stated that during regular checks and record checks, it found various types of errors, changes and missing vehicles. According to the office, although the engine number of vehicle No. Ko 1 Ja 1111 mentioned in the vehicle registration book is AF31L32764, the engine number installed in the vehicle was found to be DW 46023.
Similarly, the engine number changed in vehicle No. Na 2 Ja 7955 was not found as per the record, and the color was also changed. The engine numbers of the vehicle are GG81F41484 and GA94L69481, and the chassis number is MA1PSZGAK98M77644.
Similarly, it has been found that the vehicle number Na 2 Ja 8483 is not registered in the records of the Transport Management Office, Narayani, and the vehicle registration book has not been collected. The traffic police have stated that the engine number of the vehicle is GB94D27278 and chassis number MA1WE2GBK92D87418.
It has been found that the engine number of the vehicle with the number Na 3 Cha 3928 was not imported from the company and the engine number has been re-punched. The engine number of the vehicle is DF14L38542 and chassis number MA1BP4DFC12L74027. Similarly, it has been found that the importing company of vehicle number Ga 1 Cha 6654 has not imported it and has not provided details to the Transport Management Office, Gandaki. The engine number of the said vehicle is GF74E60869 and chassis number MA1XB2GKA72E26586 .
It is stated that all the vehicles seized by the traffic police will be handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari for further investigation and legal action.
